Abolition of Abortion

America’s Party has a tradition of being on the forefront of thought related to the abolition of abortion and we are currently working towards influencing the 2017 Texas Legislature regarding whatever legislation will come forth. We have model legislation that we can present based upon the petition we launched earlier this year: www.ipetitions.com/petition/abolish-child-murder-texas

This model legislation had it’s genesis in the Equal Protection for Posterity Resolution that forms the pro-life plank of the America’s Party national platform. The Texas version simply adds the appropriate sections of the Texas Constitution and addresses the Texas Murder Code directly with what we refer to as “Abolition by Subtraction”. Meaning that new legislation is not needed except in the sense that we need to subtract the parts of the code that fail to provide Equal Protection under the law.

Voter’s Rights

Texas currently ranks as one of the most restrictive States in the entire nation when it comes to ballot access. Typically this takes the form of blocking voters from having much, if any, choice at all in the General Election. These laws suppress voter turnout, cost taxpayers money and have generally changed our State’s character to a point where it is no longer a republican form of government, in violation of both the US and Texas Constitutions.

Article 1 of the Texas Constitution lays out in Sec. 1-3 exactly how our government should be and what we can expect our rights and privileges to be when it comes to self-government under a republican form of government. Therefore, America’s Party of Texas stands opposed to taxpayer-funded open primaries, separate and unequal status for political parties and the disenfranchisement of voters who grow dissatisfied with a political party and wish to form or join another political party.

We will seek legislative partners to help us reduce barriers to ballot access for all candidates and political parties, not just America’s Party. In addition, we will create multiple petitions geared towards gaining ballot access for a variety of independent candidates in the 2017-18 election cycle. America’s Party of Texas is exploring our options for ballot access as a party and will not be making decisions on that process until more is known after the 2017 Legislative session is complete.

To support the independent candidates that eventually are put forward, please consider joining our Lone Star Partners program and save your money until those races begin.

Judicial Tyranny/Texas Sovereignty

As we watch various politicians in Austin posturing and preening about Article V conventions and lawsuits against the Federal Government, we are reminded that the Legislature and the Governor have tremendous leeway to protect Texans from violations of our rights under both the US and Texas Constitutions. These Constitutions are complimentary and neither of them gives the Judicial Branch the power to write laws, change laws or veto laws.

Those types of actions are what we call Judicial Supremacy and we support legislation at the State level that directs the Governor to ignore certain State and Federal court opinions that are clearly in violation of both the US and Texas Constitutions, or even just the Texas Constitution, when referring to the Texas Supreme Court.

Marriage and the natural family

We seek the passage of a Federal Marriage Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and oppose all attempts everywhere to redefine marriage as being anything but what it has always been: the union of one man and one woman. Since the natural family is the basic God-given institution of our civilization, and the nursery of our future, it must be protected from all who would destroy it.

End Property Tax

Private property, the ownership of the means of production by the people, is a cornerstone of American liberty. Without it our free enterprise system, our free markets, and our republican form of self-government cannot endure. Without it, we cannot prosper. That is why we will defend against any trespass against this most basic, cherished, and necessary of our God-given, unalienable rights. That is why we will only pursue policies that will strengthen the economic position of the individual, the family, and the local community.
